Minimum Job Requirements:
- Highschool Diploma or GED
- No relevant equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree
- 2-3 years Experience
- CRCST Certification Central Sterile Supply
Job Overview:
This position will provide for the consistency and quality in the processing, assembly, delivery, and usage of surgical instrumentation, and equipment. The Liaison will facilitate the communication between the Surgery Department and the Central Sterile Processing Department to insure the availability and safe processing and handling of specialty surgical instrumentation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Communicates with Central Sterile Processing Supervisor and OR Charge RN to assist in the quick turnover of instrumentation needed in the Surgery Department. Keep track of case flow during the day and notify the sterile processing department in advance of additional needs.
- Ensures the availability, handling, processing of specialty instrumentation and equipment needed in the Surgery Department on a daily basis. Responsible for communicating with OR team members and delivering instrumentation to OR rooms throughout the day as the need arises. Assist with the planning and coordination of instrument turnarounds and communicate with the surgical team regarding information that may affect surgery start times.
- Facilitates the communication between OR team members and Central Sterile Processing Departments to minimize OR delays and increase patient, surgeon, and team member experience and satisfaction. Review the accuracy of surgical trays and resolve any discrepancies that may arise.
- Assist Registered Nurse or Certified Surgical Technician in the OR rooms when priority turnover is needed, or issues are identified with instrumentation and/or equipment. Perform data analysis to understand trends and identify operational issues within the Operating room and sterile processing department.
- Assists with managing the needs list for the current and next day's cases. Ensure quality of care by assisting in the cleaning and maintenance of instrumentation
- Knowledgeable of Central Sterile Supply processes and practices. Lead efforts to improve communication between the OR team and sterile processing team. Assist with projects and process improvement initiatives in compliance with policies and procedures, goals, objectives, and initiatives. Responsible for daily auditing and service recovery of quality events.
- Promotes customer service and satisfaction throughout training, education, and resolution of staff and physician issues and concerns.
