As a Nurse Manager II for our Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) at Bethesda North Hospital, you will lead a highly specialized team that cares for some of our most complex cardiac and thoracic patients.

This role carries 24-hour accountability for clinical quality, patient outcomes, operational excellence, staff engagement, and fiscal performance. You will guide, support, and mentor an experienced critical care nursing team while fostering a culture grounded in compassion, safety, communication, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily CVICU operations, ensuring high-quality, evidence‑based patient care and safety.
  • Drive performance in quality metrics, patient experience, regulatory compliance, and service excellence.
  • Manage staffing, scheduling, hiring, onboarding, and retention to maintain a strong and stable workforce.
  • Cultivate a positive, professional environment that supports staff growth, engagement, and accountability.
  • Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a mentor, coach, and role model for clinical excellence, teamwork, and service.
  • Partner with physicians, clinical directors, and system leaders to optimize care pathways and outcomes.

 

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current RN license in the State of Ohio.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated success in critical decision-making, communication, and team development.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Leadership experience in critical care or cardiovascular specialty units.
  • Proven ability to lead quality improvement and operational initiatives.

Job Overview:

This position has 24-hour accountability for their area of responsibility.  This accountability encompasses: patient care outcomes, service excellence, human resource issues, fiscal management, quality improvement compliance, and communication. Emphasis should be placed on creating a positive environment that fosters professional growth and retention.  This environment is supported by this position acting as a role model and as a mentor and coach to the staff.

 

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Certification within specialty area within two years of assuming position 

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS)

Registered Nurse

Membership in related professional organization preferred

2-3 years experience Progressive Leadership in Nursing in a related field

2-3 years experience Clinical in Nursing

Quality and Patient Safety: Identifies key indicators and implements performance improvement measures related to quality, safety, other outcomes of nursing practice, and customer needs and expectations. Evaluates internal and external customer satisfaction
