Job Overview

Performs technical skills and provides assistance to surgeons, anesthesia personnel, registered nurses, and others in the CVOR. Performs as a leader (updating cards & trays) and a mentor (orienting CSTs & RNs) in the CVOR. 

Job Requirements

High School Degree 
Graduate of an accredited school of Surgical Technology We will accept a non-accredited school of surgical technology if hired prior to 2019 Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) 
Surgical Technologist certification required

The CVOR team is a small group of high performing professionals. Team members must be flexible and able to fulfill on-call requirements. The certifed scrub technologist must be able to work in an environment that is at times high stress and fast paced while caring for high acuity patients. Technical skills are crucial in order to learn surgeon routines and to be able to anticipate surgeon needs. It is pertinent to perform as a leader in the COVR; updating surgeon preference cards, maintaining specialty surgical supplies and instrument trays, and mentoring new CST team members in orientation and RN team members learning to scrub cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures.
