This position will oversee and coordinate the activities of the shift and will ensure that the shift operates in a smooth and efficient manner. This includes making the daily work assignments, flexing staff, problem solving, being a resource person, overseeing the performance of staff, and representing the department in dealings with other areas. This position will serve as the department’s primary responding member to all code blues and this position will coordinate and provide the department’s core staffing for the coverage of adult intubations. Additionally, this position will provide respiratory care in all patient care settings. Duties include the administration of all respiratory care therapeutic modalities, management of mechanical ventilation, and the assessment of appropriateness and effectiveness of therapy administered. This position will participate in such diagnostic activities as ABG procurement and analysis and hemodynamic and other noninvasive monitoring. Job Requirements:
- Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) ACLS NBRC Registry
- Respiratory Care Practitioner, Current Ohio licensure
- Advanced Cardiopulmonary Physiology, other sciences related to Respiratory care, and relevant pharmacology Advanced airway management
- 3-4 years experience critical care
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs all necessary documentation, updates work lists, and submits all charges by the end of the shift.
- Directs and coordinates the department activities during assigned in-charge duty, for continuity and efficient functioning.
- Demonstrates skill and proficiency in the management of the Respiratory Evaluation Protocol Program
- Demonstrates proficiency and competency in the management of adult and neonatal airways.
- Demonstrates proficiencies as specialist in recommending, initiating and performing specialized clinical procedures to help diagnose, treat and/or improve patient situations
- Demonstrates leadership skills by mentoring, encouraging, and monitoring staff. Leads by example. Is viewed as a resource for others.
Other Job-Related Information:
To remain in this position, must do at least 1 intubation per qtr and a total of 6 per year and maintain a 90% success rate over a year period or repeat an OR rotation w/10 intubation. Annual CBE/CBOs must be complete
