Job Overview:

Under the direction of the Radiologist and supervision of the department manager or supervisor, the MRI Technologist at Bethesda Butler Hospital performs high-quality diagnostic imaging using proper techniques and established protocols while exercising independent judgment and critical thinking to support accurate diagnoses. The technologist demonstrates competency in MRI physics, patient positioning, pathology identification, MR safety, 3D reconstruction, contrast administration, and IV access, while adapting to new protocols and technologies. Responsibilities include ensuring patient and public safety, maintaining accurate records, troubleshooting equipment, properly maintaining imaging systems, and supporting the training of new staff and students. This role emphasizes collaborative patient care by working effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members, while adhering to infection prevention standards, ASRT practice guidelines, and ACR continuing education requirements, with MRI registry certification required within two years of employment.

Hourly Incentives & Bonus: 

Night Shift Differential - $4hr 

Weekend Differential - $1hr

 

Job Requirements:

Associate's Degree Allied Health (Required) 

Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program (Required)

MRI Safety Protocols, Cross Sectional Anatomy, Venipuncture experience (Preferred)

Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)

Other ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board) or ARMRIT (American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists) (Required)

 

Job Responsibilities:

Demonstrates competency through ongoing CBE's. Demonstrates knowledge of equipment and its operating procedures through CBE's. Selects proper imaging protocols, parameters based on clinical history and follows departmental procedures. 

Demonstrates organizational and communication skills to promote the well-being of the department. Maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental team members. 

Demonstrates the ability to consistently produce and evaluate MRIs for diagnostic interpretation. 

Maintains accurate records through the completion of all paperwork. Work is completed before submitting it. 

Provides for patient, family, and staff comfort and care prior to, during, and after a procedure. Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergent situations.
