Location: Good Samaritan Hospital at 375 Dixmyth Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45220

Work Hours:

  • Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly
  • Evening shift
  • Weekend and Holiday rotation (every 3rd one)

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy
  • Active Pharmacist licensure
  • Proficiency in prescription formulas and dosage calculations
  • Working knowledge of Ohio Board of Pharmacy regulations
  • 1-2 years of experience in pharmacy practice

Job Overview:

The Clinical Pharmacist plays a vital role in both distributive and clinical functions, collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position involves supervising supportive team members, providing expert consultation, precepting pharmacy residents or student pharmacists, and contributing to departmental initiatives in collaboration with Pharmacy Leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster a professional, collaborative, and patient-focused environment, maintaining open communication with pharmacy leadership, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and technicians.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and provide pharmaceutical recommendations to maximize therapeutic effectiveness, minimize adverse events, and promote cost-effective medication use.
  • Educate and counsel patients on medication therapies, offering timely, clear, and concise responses.
  • Ensure adherence to the seven patient “rights”: right patient, right dose, right route, right time, right drug, right information, and right documentation.
  • Report medication errors and assist in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Support protocol development, implementation, and optimization to enhance medication safety.
  • Lead projects aimed at improving patient care quality and promoting cost-effective medication use.
  • Oversee drug distribution processes, including verification, order entry, clarification, technician supervision, and timely delivery.
  • Manage drug inventory by adjusting par levels, preventing shortages, and minimizing waste.
  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Buyers to ensure appropriate stock levels and supply-demand alignment.
  • Identify opportunities for pharmacy process improvement and implement effective solutions.
  • Take initiative in ongoing professional development, engage in clinical education, and participate in relevant committees.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of new hires and serve as a preceptor for pharmacy students and residents.
