Job Overview:
Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, supervisor, and/or director of pharmacy services, this role is responsible for performing a variety of technical and clerical duties within the pharmacy department. Key responsibilities include maintaining confidential reports, accurately entering and retrieving data using the pharmacy computer system, fulfilling pharmaceutical supply requests, and delivering medications to nursing units.
Location: This position requires flexibility to work across multiple outpatient pharmacy locations, including but not limited to Good Samaritan Hospital, Kenwood, Western Hills, Bethesda North, and additional sites as needed.
Work Hours:
- Day shift, totaling 80 hours bi-weekly.
- Scheduled hours will range between 8:00 AM and 5:30 PM.
- Rotational Saturday shifts are required every other week from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, with a compensatory Thursday off on alternating weeks.
Job Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Certification:
- Pharmacy Technician Certification required.
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PCTB) or ExCPT Certification through the National Healthcareer Association.
- Active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
- Experience: Up to one year of experience in a related field preferred.
- Regulatory Compliance: Must be registered with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (requirement effective as of April 6, 2018).
Job Responsibilities:
- Maintain and update day-to-day operations lists accurately and efficiently.
- Ensure timely and precise checking in and storage of pharmacy orders.
- Review the daily fill list and verify against participant charts to ensure accuracy.
- Accurately prepare and fill medications based on the daily fill list.
- Utilize the QS-1 software system to process new orders, re-orders, and profile verifications.
- Apply knowledge of basic medical and pharmacy terminology in daily tasks.
- Communicate and interact professionally and respectfully with participants and nursing staff.
