Unit Description:

The Float Pools at Bethesda North Hospital encompass two vital nursing units—Telemetry and Critical Care—dedicated to delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. Nurses in these dynamic roles have the opportunity to float between various units, addressing a wide range of complex medical conditions, including cardiac issues, respiratory distress, and post-operative recovery needs. In the Telemetry Float Pool, nurses utilize advanced telemetry monitoring systems for real-time tracking of patients’ cardiac activity, allowing for swift responses to critical changes. Collaboration is key, as nurses work closely with a multidisciplinary team—physicians, respiratory therapists, and pharmacists—to create individualized care plans that meet each patient’s unique needs. Continuous education in cardiac care and telemetry monitoring fosters professional growth and enhances the culture of ongoing improvement. The Critical Care Float Pool specializes in high-acuity nursing for critically ill patients across multiple departments. Nurses manage severe conditions that require intensive monitoring and rapid intervention, seamlessly transitioning between intensive care units (ICU), cardiac care units (CCU), and other critical care environments. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, nurses assess real-time patient changes and ensure timely, effective care. Both units emphasize teamwork and continuous education, keeping staff informed on the latest protocols and innovations. By joining either Float Pool, nurses become part of a highly skilled, supportive team dedicated to excellence in patient care. This fast-paced environment not only offers opportunities for professional development but also allows nurses to make a significant impact on the lives of their patients and their families.
