Radiation Therapy Supervisor

Job Overview:

The Supervisor of Radiation is a registered radiation therapist -RT(T). The Supervisor of Radiation participates with management, hospital administration, and the Radiation Oncology Medical Director in the planning and development of the radiation center's functions; role models proactive, collaborative working relationships across all treatment center functions in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care; provides direct daily supervision to the Radiation Therapists’ performance and the treatment delivery process to ensure timely, safe, efficient and cost effective patient care; Plans, schedules, and organizes work for group ensuring proper distribution and delegation of assignments and efficient utilization of personnel, space, and facilities; Perform radiation therapy duties and procedures as staffing and workload dictates; Collaborates with Physicians, Physicists, Dosimetrists, Nursing , and support staff to plan and implement corrective actions in order to improve treatment delivery standards; Serves as the staff and patient advocate to ensure optimal patient care; Manage, supervise, and coordinate delivery of patient care for assigned patient care area. Displays effective leadership and supervisory capabilities; Coordinates timely requisition, receipt, care and maintenance of equipment and supplies; Maintain clinical competencies for assigned clinical area and provide treatment as needed; Maintain required unit records, reports, and statistics for administrative purposes, ensure compliance with established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, PI (Performance Improvement), safety, environmental and infection control; Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations; Participates in the hiring process, provides orientation, on-going training and education; Completes performance evaluations and staff competencies; Supports and encourages open and honest staff participation in the decision making process and conflict resolution; Performs audits to ensure accuracy in coding and billing practices; Ensures accurate and timely reporting of equipment malfunctions, treatment errors, equipment damage, and radiation safety violations to the appropriate resource; Engages in research, education, patient advocacy, and administrative activities; Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise, as well as encouraging and facilitating participation of assigned staff; Coordinates, supervises, evaluates and participates in educational programs and in-service meetings for radiation therapist staff; Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as needed; Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the organization; Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree in Allied Health 
Biological Fields also acceptable
Varian Linear Accelerator 
Aria EMR
ARRT 
Ohio Licensure
5-7 years experience Clinical Radiation Therapy

Responsible for the safe and accurate utilization of all aspects of the electronic medical record and Record and Verify
system. Proficient in the use of Radiation Oncology IS systems and software. (Mosaiq, EPIC, ARIA, Microsoft office etc.)

Documents annual competencies for all radiation therapists to meet ODH, Joint Commission and other regulatory agency requirement. The competencies are the outcomes of a Radiation Therapist's combined knowledge, abilities, skills, attitudes and judgement.
