- This is an on-site position based in Norwood, OH, collaborating directly with the Medical Staff Services team to ensure a seamless process. Remote work is not available for this role.
Job Overview:
This position reports to the Director of Medical Staff Services and plays a critical role in credentialing and processing applications for initial appointment, facilitating reappointments, and providing executive support for Credentials and Medical Executive Committee activities.
The Lead Credentialing Coordinator serves as a key resource for colleagues and medical staff leadership, ensuring the competency of practitioners to provide safe, high-quality patient care. This role is essential in reducing organizational liability and ensuring practitioners' physical ability to fulfill patient care responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining credible processes, routinely auditing and reviewing applications for medical staff appointment and privileges and conducting diligent data collection and evaluation. The Lead Credentialing Coordinator must exercise critical thinking and judgment in identifying potential concerns related to licensure, education, training, or current competence.
In a fast-paced environment, the Lead Credentialing Coordinator must independently prioritize multiple tasks, maintain confidentiality of physician data, and exhibit excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Professionalism, diplomacy, and proactive follow-up are essential in addressing potential concerns and fostering collaborative relationships.
Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED Degree (Required)
- 1 - 2 years of business school, college, university or specialty certification. (Required)
- 3 - 4 years of professional experience. (Required)
- Medical staff credentialing or healthcare credentialing
- Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) Required
Job Responsibilities:
- Timely credentialing/processing of applications for initial appointment and reappointments.
- Performs executive support for Credentials and Medical Executive Committee activities.
- Provides needed support and guidance to colleagues and medical staff leadership in determining the competency of practitioners.
- Monitors continuous development and maintenance of a credible process including routine auditing and reviewing of applications for Medical Staff Appointment/Privileges.
- Guides and ensures appropriate follow-up and action to address any potential concerns related to credentialing and privileging.
Other Related Information:
The Lead Credentialing Coordinator works under the supervision of the Director of Medical Staff Office and the Vice President Quality & Accreditation. This position serves as the Lead credentialing coordinator in the Medical Staff Office.
