Certified Pharmacy Technician - Oxford, OH

JOB OVERVIEW:

A hospital Pharmacy Technician II is a healthcare professional who plays an integral role in the pharmacy operations. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in the distribution of medications to patients in the hospital (inpatient and outpatient units, emergency room, and operating room). The distribution of medications, includes but is not limited to, selecting, counting, compounding, packing, labeling, and delivering medications to the units. A Pharmacy Technician II is responsible for the preparation of sterile compounds and for maintaining the sterile environment in the IV Room. Employees must be proficient in accessing and viewing the electronic health record and utilizing pharmacy automated systems. Employees will work in multiple areas of the pharmacy to maintain competency and broaden skills for all areas of the job scope.

WORK SCHEDULE • Full-time, 40 hours per week • Day shift • Weekend rotation required • Holiday coverage rotation as scheduled

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Base Pay & Bonuses: • Competitive hourly rate, Sign-on bonus of $5,000 for external qualified candidates only with one year work commitment • Shift differential weekend shifts

REQUIRED MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Degree or GED
  • Active National Pharm Tech Cert (CPhT) is required.  Approved cert is through Pharm Tech Cert Board (PCTB) and ExCPT Cert by the National Healthcareer Association.
  • Active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician.
  • Up to 1 year experience Technical Pharmacy Experience must be as a Pharmacy Technician I to be eligible to move into the Pharmacy Technician II position.
     

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sterile Compounding Operations • Prepare and distribute sterile compounds including: - Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) - Epidurals - Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA) - IV drips - Antibiotics - Fluids - NICU medications • Follow strict compliance with USP 797/800, ASHP, and NIOSH guidelines • Maintain sterile environment through proper cleaning and documentation • Perform hand hygiene and proper garbing procedures • Execute aseptic technique with precision • Manage IV room cleaning logs and documentation • Prioritize IV medication production workflow
  • Non-Sterile Medication Management • Process medication preparations including: - Accurate medication selection and labeling - Proper weighing and measuring of ingredients - Precise compounding calculations - Packaging and scanning verification • Operate Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) - Load/refill medications - Manage inventory outdates - Resolve discrepancies • Coordinate medication delivery throughout facility • Manage stock orders and emergency cart supplies
  • Controlled Substance Responsibilities • Maintain accurate CII-CV inventory • Review and document controlled substance records • Report discrepancies immediately to supervision • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Other Job-Related Information:

  • Must be a Pharmacy Technician I to be eligible to move into the Pharmacy Technician II position. Required to train in the IV Room and consistently staff shifts in the IV Room
