Position: Certified Pharmacy Technician

Play a critical role in our hospital's pharmacy department. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, ensuring accurate medication records, and providing exceptional patient care.

Job Overview:

Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician assists in the distribution of medications to patients across various units (inpatient, outpatient, emergency room, and operating room). Responsibilities include selecting, counting, compounding, packing, labeling, and delivering medications. Proficiency in accessing and viewing the electronic health record and utilizing pharmacy automated systems is essential. Employees will work in multiple areas of the pharmacy to maintain competency and broaden skills.

Work Hours:

   * Part-time 

   * Weekends and holidays rotation

Bonuses:

   * $2,500 sign-on bonus available for external qualified candidates (one-year work commitment)

Minimum Qualifications:

   * High school diploma or equivalent (GED)

   * Active National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) required

   * Certification through PTCB or ExCPT by the National Healthcareer Association

   * Active registration with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician

   * Strong attention to detail, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment

Job Responsibilities:

   * Medication Preparation: Select, count, compound, package, scan, label, fill, and deliver medications per department guidelines. Operate Automated Dispensing Machines.

   * Inventory Control: Manage stock rotation, remove expired medications, reorder and stock medications/supplies, and ensure safe storage.

   * Controlled Substances Management: Maintain accurate controlled substances inventory and records. Report unresolved discrepancies.

   * Workflow Optimization: Efficiently complete job duties, prioritize workload, and assist with other duties as necessary. Use appropriate problem-solving techniques.

   * Technology Use: Follow department standards, maintain pharmacy automation, and troubleshoot issues. Access patient information and process in-basket Rx messages.

   * Customer Service: Respond to requests professionally via telephone, in writing, or in person. Assist in training new employees.
