PEER RECOVERY SUPPORT SPECIALIST:
The purpose of this position is to serve as part of the Behavioral Health team for Substance Use Disorders. The role of the Peer Recovery Support Specialist is to support others in recovery. The Specialist will serve as a role model, mentor, advocate, and motivator to individuals with SUD to assist in recovery.The Specialist will collaborate with the Substance Use Treatment Coordinator (SUTC) to promote recovery.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: High School Degree or GED Other Certified Peer Recovery Supporter in Ohio within 6 months of hire
EXPERIENCE: 3-4 years Customer Service Other Strong knowlwdge of alcohol and drug treatment systems.
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Alcohol and Drug Treatment Systems. Established relationships with treatment community. Working knowledge of motivational interviewing. Must meet qualifications for certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Supporter in Ohio.
DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC:
This role will work closely with a Substance Use Treatment Coordinator (SUTC) in order to engage patients with substance use disorders, complete brief screenings, and refer them to appropriate care following discharge. It is our goal to have a set follow up appointment time with an appropriate provider for each patient participant within 24 hours from the time of discharge from the hospital. Eligible candidates must have strong communication skills and currently have or obtain their Ohio Peer Recovery Supporter Certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities include screening of individuals living with substance use disorders, coordination of follow up treatment, data tracking, and post discharge phone calls. A strong knowledge of recovery processes is a must, and thorough awareness of local resources and providers is preferred. Our Peer Recovery Supporters are a key part of our collaborative, multidisciplinary treatment team.
