PATIENT SAFETY AND ACCREDITATION SPECIALIST

 

This position is responsible for reviewing and following up on submitted safety events including assignment of severity, initial investigation, routing of events to Patient Safety staff, managers, Risk Management and others, and identification of trends and issues for communication and follow-up. As needed, assists in coordination of Root Cause Analysis and other process improvement efforts as well as research and interpretation of regulatory requirements related to patient safety. Conducts training for staff and managers and represents Patient Safety group on teams or committees as assigned. In addition, this individual will support the Accreditation Consultant in various survey readiness activities (i.e. assisting with mock surveys, unit survey preparation, performing supportive tasks related to survey readiness teams, and developing, conducting and analyzing tracer findings) and continuous Joint Commission compliance. Responsibilities would also include assisting with Verge training; providing support during pre-survey preparation, on-site survey and post-survey follow up activities; assist with education of Joint Commission Standards. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

 

Education: Associate's Degree Nursing New hire RNs required to obtain BSN within 5 years of hire. Registered Nurse

Experience: 3-4 years Clinical Nursing

Specialized Knowledge: Patient safety principles, risk management; Microsoft Office; internet research skills; Principles in adult education.
